Behavioral Health Counselor
Michelle Byrd, M.ED, LPC

Michelle earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and her Bachelor’s degree in Community, Family and Addiction Services from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Michelle has worked in various settings in the behavioral health industry including community mental health services, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, crisis intervention for a residential domestic violence shelter and outpatient substance use treatment for IOP and PHP levels of care. She enjoys working with acute cases and has a deep passion for treating those who struggle from trauma and subsequent addictions. Michelle believes in the resiliency of the human mind and our ability to change our lives through our thought systems and healing traumatic experiences. She’s an avid practitioner of energy psychology methods to emphasize the mind-body connection of bioenergy systems in the treatment of psychological distress. Michelle utilizes various evidenced-based practices including thought field therapy (TFT), emotional freedom techniques (EFT), motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She is actively becoming credentialed as a certified thought field therapy-algorithm practitioner and a Diplomate in Comprehensive Energy Psychology (DCEP). Michelle utilizes a strength-based approach with her patients to empower them to discover the innate resilience that is programmed within us all. To find balance in her personal life, Michelle spends most of her time connecting with nature, spending time with her two dogs (Charlie and Samson) and getting lost in a book.
