The Benefits of Having Your Family Through Recovery

Upon arrival at CeDAR, we will place your packed belongings in a safe stored location, obtain your vitals and have you complete brief initial paperwork.

You will then meet with a licensed clinician to complete a full level of care assessment. Next you will complete admission paperwork. The admissions team will then notify the nursing staff that you are ready to be assisted to the assessment unit.

Assessment & Detox Unit

Every patient will enter treatment through our Assessment and Detox Unit (ADU). Whether you are admitting directly for residential services or may need detox services prior to residential; your initial nursing and history and physical will be completed in the ADU. You will receive specialized medication management by our trained Addiction Medicine Providers. Labs and medications will be ordered for your specialized needs. We are affiliated with the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) and UCHealth. The emergency room is directly across the street from us should a higher level of medical need be necessary.

Within the initial 24 hours of treatment, you will have a history and physical completed by an addiction medicine provider and you will have an initial meeting with a counselor. Within 72 hours you will be assigned a specific counselor and psychiatric provider that will oversee your care with the treatment team.

After the initial assessment and detox unit and once you are medically stable, you will be assigned to one of our residential cottages where you will complete the remainder of your treatment. The team at CeDAR will orient you to the residential rules and regulations, discuss visitation opportunities, and orient you to the group schedule. In addition to our group schedule, we have a fitness center that you will have access to when the personal trainer from the Health & Wellness Center runs group and we have a spiritual center where you will have access to a chaplain should you have any spiritual needs or requests during treatment.

An initial phone screening for addiction treatment is a crucial step in starting your recovery journey. It’s designed to gather information and help place you in the most suitable level of care and treatment location. Here’s what you can expect:

Getting acquainted:

• The call will be conducted by a professional and trained admissions team member. Our team consists of trained admissions staff and licensed counselors. Anyone you speak to can answer questions and at times we will have a licensed counselor take your call to ensure we make the most appropriate recommendations.
• They’ll introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the call.
• You’ll have the opportunity to ask any initial questions you might have.

Information gathering:

• The admissions team member will ask questions about your substance use history including types of substances, frequency and duration of use, and any past treatment episodes.
• They’ll inquire about your current situation including living arrangements, employment, and relationships.

Program options and recommendations:

• Based on the screening, the admissions team member will discuss various treatment options available, including inpatient detox, residential, outpatient, or an appointment with one of our outpatient addiction medicine provider.
• Our programs are all voluntary. If you decide you are not interested in treatment, that is okay! We can also provide you with resources if we are unable to assist or if a different type of treatment is most recommended for your needs.

Next steps:

• Based upon our availability, if you decide to move forward with treatment, the admissions team member will schedule you for admission and guide you through the admission process
• If you are scheduled for an admission, you will receive a confirmation of your appointment and a packing list. We do have guidelines around items brought into treatment so please ask any questions you may have after you are able to review the packing list.
• If you are scheduled for a level of care appointment to consider intensive outpatient programming, these are completed in person. You will receive a confirmation of your in-person appointment after your call is complete.

Additional things to keep in mind:

• The phone screening typically lasts about 10-15 minutes.
• Please choose a quiet and private space for the call where you can speak freely and confidentially.
• Be honest and open with the admissions team member, as this information is crucial for determining the most appropriate next steps or treatment options with you.
• Please don’t hesitate to ask questions and express any concerns you might have. We want to ensure that you are informed and comfortable.
