Harlan Austin, PhD is the Director of Clinical Quality at CeDAR. In his role as director, he coordinates and oversees the clinical, training, education, and research endeavors of CeDAR. These areas are the pillars of CeDAR’s commitment to continue to evolve as a Center of Excellence for Addiction treatment. Dr. Austin received his Master of Arts in counseling from New Mexico State University and his Doctorate of Philosophy in counseling psychology at the University of North Texas. He has specialty training and certifications in addiction, sport and performance psychology, and psychological assessment. Dr. Austin began working in addiction in 2008 and has had multiple roles in the field, including addiction counselor, team supervisor, psychologist, and now Director of Clinical Quality. Dr. Austin has lectured and presented at national conventions on addiction and sport and performance psychology (APA & AASP). Dr. Austin developed a pre-doctoral psychology training program at CeDAR, which currently hosts a major and minor rotation as a part of the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine’s APA Accredited Psychology Pre-Doctoral internship, which is housed in the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Austin provides clinical supervision for staff and trainees at CeDAR, he also serves as an Instructor for the University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry.
