All patients are tested for COVID-19 at admission. Any patient who has a positive COVID-19 test result will be quarantined and an individualized care plan developed with an infectious disease expert.
All patients are placed in a private room upon admission until a second negative COVID-19 test is received, at which time they may be placed in a room with another low-risk patient who is COVID-19 negative and asymptomatic. Beds spaced 6 feet or more apart in double occupancy rooms and patient education is occurring regarding hand washing and social distancing.
On day 5, patients will be retested for COVID-19.
If a patient tests positive for COVID-19, staff adheres to droplet precautions and surgical masks are worn. A private room is provided for the patient with isolation from the milieu, rooming in private hallways or units when available. Positive patient precautions are discontinued after 10 days from onset of active symptoms or positive COVID-19 test if asymptomatic. Patient must be without fever for 24 hours and have an improvement in symptoms determined by medical staff. High-risk category patients will also lead staff to follow droplet precautions until a negative COVID-19 test is received, at which time precautions are discontinued.
While a patient is in 5-day private room status, groups are provided virtually. Common areas where patients may congregate have floor markings to indicate 6 feet of safe distancing.
All patients are required to wear surgical masks when outside of their room or in a room with another person present until their second negative COCVID test is received. Following a second negative COVID test, masks ae encouraged when outside of your room.
Patients are screened for symptoms of COVID-19 by nursing twice daily. If symptomatic, they are moved to a single room and tested.
Patients are allowed 1 visitor per day during designated visitation times. No visitors under the age of 16 years are permitted. All visitors must enter through the main lobby and follow a temperature and symptom screening policy.
All visitors and patients must adhere to face mask guidelines at all times. 6-foot social distancing is required. Hand hygiene must be practiced before and after visits. No visitors are allowed in the cottages; visitation will take place in larger permitting areas.
