Addiction & Detoxification Assessment is where you make a plan your detoxification needs. We work with you to evaluate all medical and psychiatric conditions so that we can respond with the appropriate detox. Medically Managed Detox at CeDAR is only available if you have been admitted into a Residential Treatment Program.
The Assessment Detox Unit (ADU) is our on-campus facility devoted to 24/7 medically-monitored drug and alcohol withdrawal. Our UCHealth medical staff provides comprehensive drug and alcohol detox services that include a thorough assessment of your medical conditions, psychiatric treatments, and substance use history. All levels of drug and alcohol detoxification can be provided rapidly in the ADU.
Detoxification is the first part of your recovery process. CeDAR provides a safe and comfortable experience where our experienced staff recognizes the complexities of drug and alcohol withdrawal management. We specialize in treating any medical, psychiatric and nutritional complications that are common in people entering treatment for addiction. You’ll feel better and be encouraged to get started in treatment.
Congratulations on starting your new life in recovery!
“Medication-Assisted Treatment is treatment for addiction that includes the use of medication along with counseling and other support. Treatment that includes medication is often the best choice for opioid addiction.”
– U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration – Center for Substance Abuse Treatment
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) at CeDAR is provided in a controlled clinical environment. We are the area’s premier service provider for this innovative and effective strategy. Under the guidance and supervision of licensed and credentialed UCHealth clinicians, you’ll receive both the medication and counseling necessary for successful MAT.
“If a person is addicted, medication allows him or her to regain a normal state of mind, free of drug-induced highs and lows. It frees the person from thinking all the time about the drug. It can reduce problems of withdrawal and craving. These changes can give the person the chance to focus on the lifestyle changes that lead back to healthy living.”
We don’t simply apply medication to addiction. We structure medication-assisted treatment to include lifestyle counseling in group and individual sessions, individualized fitness and nutrition training, spiritual guidance, family counseling, and outpatient services designed to treat the whole person.
“Taking medication for opioid addiction is like taking medication to control heart disease or diabetes. It is NOT the same as substituting one addictive drug for another. Used properly, the medication does NOT create a new addiction. It helps people manage their addiction so that the benefits of recovery can be maintained.”
Our mission is to improve your quality of life. Medication-Assisted Treatment allows you to experience physical relief in combination with mental and emotional growth. We offer you a continuum of care that supports this path to recovery.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our team of MAT experts on staff:
Studies have shown that gender differences are present in all phases of drug abuse to include initiation, escalation of use, progression to addiction, withdrawal, relapse, and treatment (Carroll, M., Lynch, W., Roth, M., Morgan, A, Cogrove, K., 2004). These differences present various challenges and barriers. Therapeutic approaches at CeDAR address these specific challenges in order to ensure optimum therapeutic benefit and encourage sustained recovery.
CeDAR utilizes therapeutic approaches sensitive to the social construction of gender, the impact of abuse, trauma, and sexuality. This will ultimately strengthen your recovery process and deepen internal changes. We address social roles and cultural expectations and work to identify gender-specific stigma and stereotyping that may be detrimental to lasting recovery.
Different areas of life are affected by addiction in women and men. We recognize that recovery is more likely to occur when we respect your culture and help you build relevant skills that are compatible with your background, family, and community. You’ll get help to develop practical skills, attitudes, and policies that will successfully work together for a better life. Our treatment programs are designed to acknowledge and support you based your individual needs.
We can help you start changing your life right now.
CeDAR offers the most comprehensive fitness and nutrition addiction treatment programs in the nation. It’s based on science, not a mirror or a scale. Your team of Exercise Physiologists promotes movement and proper care of your body for long-term recovery. Our program uses physiology and science to develop your ideal exercise and nutrition. Your body is vital for your recovery.
To effectively heal your body from damage caused by addiction, we measure your exercise fingerprint with a proprietary testing methodology developed at the University of Colorado called CRA-Testing (Cellular Respiration Analytics). Through CRA-Testing we track biomarkers during exercise and evaluate real-time results to provide long-lasting change. We’ll help you design specific movement routines that achieve your goals and return you to a healthy physical state.
Our leading nutrition team can help you develop a plan for proper fueling, dietary needs, special diet prescription or healthy restrictions. You can schedule an appointment with CeDAR Fitness Staff to develop individualized movement exercise and nutrition strategies that support your recovery. You’ll engage in daily movement at our physical fitness center, as well a participate in onsite activities and education.
We bridge the mental and metabolic gap that occurs with this disease. You’ll get qualified information, monitoring results and be able to take steps to improve your own physical wellbeing.
Addiction is a biological, psychological, social and spiritual disease. It is common for problems associated with active addiction to erode your relationship with a higher power. Substance use can also diminish long-standing religious foundations. Therefore we believe that the recovery process is enhanced by a patient’s spiritual reconnection. You choose your connection. We’ll help you grow it.
The focus of spirituality will not be on religion. If you have a religious faith or belief system, the spiritual care providers will assist in integrating your faith into your overall recovery. Again, we are not going to promote any religion in your spirituality.
This is an opportunity for you to take a step back from all external voices and check in with your internal voice. Various forms of meditation will be introduced such as:
All of these are ways to grow your spirituality.
You have goals in many parts of your life. A Certified Recovery Coach CeDAR will work with you make a plan and help you stay on track for meeting those goals. Recovery Coaches are peers in recovery who have extensive training in Peer Coaching. You’ll be working with someone who knows what you’re going through because they’ve been there, too.
Recovery Coaching brings an entirely new dimension to long-term recovery care management. You’ll start the goal setting process during Residential Treatment and continue for up to one year after leaving CeDAR. This is not a substitute for treatment. It’s part of it. Working with a Recovery Coach adds to your support team.
Certified Recovery Coaches work with you to fulfill your own goals. We don’t tell you what to do. You tell us what you’re going to do, and we help you do it. This is another exclusive program offered by CeDAR.
Staying connected to support systems is essential for long-term recovery. In early 2018 we will begin providing regular online assessments that you can use to monitor your progress in different dimensions of your life. We’ll reach out at regular intervals both during and after Residential Treatment to offer access to these assessments during your first year of recovery.
